Purpose of the role

 

We are delighted to be offering a unique opportunity for an up and coming .Net Software Developer to join our friendly team. We are looking for someone with a grounding in .Net development to help develop and support our in-house insurance applications as well as learn to analyse, develop and test all applications using the appropriate processes, methods and standards.

 

 

What you will do

 

  • Undertake analysis, design, programming and testing for the development of new systems and provide support for, and enhancements to, existing systems.
  • Help produce technical documentation to support the development of new systems.
  • Develop relationship with business users to aid full understanding of business requirements and make recommendations as and when required to improve systems.
  • Liaise with the Support Desk and the larger team to ensure priorities are being correctly addressed.
  • Have the opportunity to work through all aspects of the development lifecycle as well as contribute to and implement improvements to best practices, high quality design and development of software.

 

 

What we’re looking for

 

You will embrace and take ownership of personal objectives doing everything you can to achieve them. Working with others you will maintain effective verbal and written communication and build relationships with all colleagues and customers to promote a professional business environment.

 

 

Important experience and skills you will need

 

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Technically proficient in the following:
    • MS Visual Studio
    • C#
  • Flexible and able to absorb new information or change in plans in a rapidly changing environment.

 

 

And if you have these additional skills, that would be a bonus

 

  • Source Control Practices using source control tools, e.g. DevOps
  • Knowledge of design and software development methodologies.
  • Knowledge/Experience of:
    • .Net framework/.Net Core
    • Entity Framework
    • MS SQL Server development, TSQL/Stored Procedures WPF
    • WCF
    • SSIS/SSRS
    • ASP.NET MVC
    • Web Services/Web API
    • Angular
    • JSON
    • JavaScript / HTML /XML / CSS
    • Unit testing frameworks
